I had high hopes for Schlosshotel when I stayed here during a golf tour in northern Germany—after all, the name suggests a charming castle experience. Unfortunately, the reality felt more like a basic stopover. The hotel is conveniently located near a fantastic golf course, which is its biggest draw. Just be prepared for a challenging links-style course that’ll eat your balls for breakfast! On the flip side, the accommodations left much to be desired. My room, intended for double occupancy, was cramped, and the bathroom was utilitarian with minimal amenities. While the breakfast was reasonably priced, the quality felt lackluster, with limited options—just coffee or tea—and very basic fare. Dinner in their restaurant was fine but the portions were tiny and did not reflect the luxury they promised. I did appreciate the free Wi-Fi and the garden area, which offered some respite. Schlosshotel may not deliver on the luxury expected for the price, but if you’re passionate about golf, it's worth considering. Just temper your expectations in terms of accommodation and dining.
